The ICT and Innovation Lab and Two Smart Classrooms of the Department of Japanese Studies of Dhaka University were inaugurated

The ICT and Innovation Lab and Two Smart Classrooms of the Department of Japanese Studies of Dhaka University were inaugurated on August 18. Ambassador, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Bangladesh, Mr. Saida Shinichi, was present as the chief guest in this event, Mr. Syed Samiul Haque, Director of Japan Solartech (Bangladesh) Limited, was also present as a distinguished guest, Honorable Secretary (Bilateral Affairs) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Md. Nazrul Islam, and Bangladesh High Commissioner to India, Ambassador (Former) Liaquat Ali Chowdhury were present as special guests. The event was chaired by Associate Professor and Former Chairman of the Department of Japanese Studies, Dr Abdullah-Al-Mamun. The Chair (Acting) of the Department, Dr. Lopamudra Malek delivered the opening remarks at the ceremony. Other faculty members Wasik Sajid Khan, Farida Yeasmin Banna and Sabrina Zahir worked relentlessly for this auspicious event.

Initially, the classrooms of the Japanese Studies Department were allocated to the Arts Building and later shifted to the Social Sciences Building. In order to provide a better and technology-based environment to the students, in 2024, at the initiative of the then Chairman of the Department, Dr. Md. Jahangir Alam, and with the overall support of the Japan Solartech (Bangladesh) Limited, two classrooms of the department were converted into smart classrooms named after Syed Mahmudul Haque. In addition, a complete ICT and Innovation Lab was established to provide technical support to students of all years.

The department is truly grateful to Dr. Md. Jahangir Alam sir for his effort, dedication, enthusiasm, and contribution to the department.
