The University of Dhaka’s Department of Japanese Studies English Forum (DJSEF) is a vibrant student club aimed at enhancing English language proficiency among university students. Established in 2018, the forum provides a platform for students to develop their fluency in English while engaging in productive and informative discussions. The primary goal of DJSEF is to help students improve their English skills and build a lasting legacy of language excellence for future generations. By participating in the club’s regular sessions, students enhance their speaking abilities and gain a deeper understanding of global issues. DJSEF encourages critical thinking, enabling students to approach challenges from multiple perspectives and fostering a more enthusiastic approach to learning.
As they participate in discussions, debates, and other activities, students become more logical in their arguments, more persuasive in their speech, and more confident in expressing their ideas. The club has held successful events as the first club of the department, most notably “Language Mania 1.0” and “Battle of Minds,” engaging students in various competitions and academic discourses. It has also published its very first edition of “Mizuki,” which has been recognized & praised by the community. The club places a strong emphasis on developing fluency, which is vital for students’ academic and professional growth. As they grow more comfortable with speaking English, students are better equipped to advance in their future careers, making DJSEF an invaluable resource for personal and intellectual development.
