Abstract
AbstractPrejudice and racism are complex issues that require careful consideration and sensitivity. Japan, a developed nation, is not immune to these discussions. Despite its homogeneity, Japan has seen a rise in foreign nationals and immigrants due to labour shortages and other measures. This situation has led to a growing multicultural society with diverse backgrounds. Many foreign residents have reported uncomfortable situations, suggesting racial biases may be the cause. This study aims to identify the factors contributing to racially motivated discriminatory encounters and gain insight into the true prevalence of prejudice and racism in Japan.
